Community and collaboration in CroydonMon 22 Oct 2018
We turn to the people to improve this well loved park
The Queen’s Gardens is a key element of our Taberner House development. This public area is a central, much-loved and much-used green space in Croydon, adjacent to the 513 homes for sale and rent, with 40% designated affordable, that are now under construction.
From the start, we wanted to tap into the creativity, energy and passion of the local community to help develop the plans for the future of this oasis. It was important for us to help set the right tone for what Croydon can expect from us and – more importantly – this is a space for the people of Croydon, so it’s vital they are instrumental in how it should be used in the future.
The plans have been submitted. The collaborative approach included our partners, Stirling Prize winning architects AHMM and landscape architects Grant Associates. It seems like they have been well received and we hope to see the key features come through, including an imaginative, non-formal children’s play area and space for a community-centred café.
